It’s “sagra” time in Ischia! A sagra is a type of festival, a bit like a village fete or fair where local food and wine are the guests of honour. The sagras take place all over the island and are usually accompanied by live music or other entertainment. With August the peak season for sagras we've put a list together which you can now see below:

Sunday 16th and Monday the 17th August 2015

The Wine Festival (Sagra del Vino) in the village of Panza, starting from 20:30

Live music, cabaret and a DJ set along with a deluge of local wine which will accompany grilled sausages all cooked on the spot in Panza village square.

Tuesday 18th August 2015

The Aubergine Festival (Sagra della Melanzana), Fiaiano starting from 20:00

Local food made with the typical summer vegetable, the aubergine! Live music with the Neapolitan singer Gigi Finizio performing on stage.

Thursday 20th August 2015

The Pizza Festival (La Sagra della Pizza), Buonopane village starting from 18:00

Live music and delicious pizzas made live right in front you!

At 18:00, a local Pizza maker will teach children how to make the typical Neapolitan pizzas. Local artists will perform during the festival and at 22:30 there's singer Michele Zarrillo in concert.

Wednesday 19th to Sunday 23rd August

Festival degli antichi sapori (Festival of Traditional Flavours) in Piazza Municipio and Chiesa del Soccorso square in Forio starting at 20:30.

Live music, shows, art & crafts markets and an abundance of traditional local food.

Wednesday 19th August

Potato fest, from starter to dessert, the potato is the “queen” of the menu in all its different varieties.

Live music with the local pop band "Noirs".

Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August

Pizza fest, two evenings dedicated to the traditional pizza, made right in front of you in traditional wood ovens. Live traditional folk music.

Saturday 22nd August

Traditional food night: local chefs will prepare traditional Ischian recipes using fresh local ingredients. DJ set with revival disco music.

Sunday 23rd August

The blonde night, Beer is the star of the evening, accompanying a live tribute to the great singer Pino Daniele and the guest star of the evening is Enzo Avitabile with the Black Tarantella and I Bottari, for an unmissable show of pure energy and folk music.

Tuesday 25th August 2015

Sagra dell’ortolano (The Greengrocer Festival), Barano, Piazza San Rocco starting from 21:00.

Wine, sausages and local vegetables. Live music and cabaret show.

Wednesday 26th August 

La Festa di Sant’Alessandro, Ischia Porto starting from 18:00.

Live music at Lucignolo Brasserie in Forio tomorrow, Sunday 31st May.
"The Company Store" live starting from 22:30, the band will perform a classic repertoire of swing and blues covers (among which Nat King Cole, Louis Prima and Ray Charles are featured) while you can enjoy drinks, good food and a selection of artisan beers.
