The Chiesa della Madonna Assunta is situated in the village of Testaccio within the comune of Barano. The building has a curious and almost mysterious feel and shape to it but is these days deconsecrated.
To find the church you must first reach Testaccio. From Ischia Porto take the main SS270 road towards Barano but take the left hand turn down to Maronti Beach before you reach Barano. The first village you arrive at is Testaccio where you will find a few shops including a cafe called Bar Gina. With the bar behind you, turn left to the end where the main road bends left but take the right hand turn. Follow this road and after a few yards you will see the church.
There are two other interesting churches in Testaccio as well, Chiesa Santa Maria di Costantinipoli and Chiesa San Giorgio.
