The Chiesa di San Sebastiano Martire is one of three churches in the small village of Barano and was constructed towards the end of the seventeeth century. From the exterior the church appears to have seen better days with much of its plastering gradually crumbling away but things are different inside where the beautifully-manicured church has been kept in pristine condition.
It's easy to reach the church by bus, using either the CD or CS routes that circle the island from either direction. The Chiesa di San Sebastiano Martire is located at the edge of the village with its tall bell-tower overlooking the sea. Another church, the Chiesa di San Rocco is situated at the top of the village while a third church, Chiesa Madonna del Carmine is slightly hidden from view on one of the village's back streets.
