The Chiesa Madonna del Carmine in Barano village has been standing since 1684 but at the time of writing (2015) is currently closed. The church is one of three in the village, the other two being located along the main road.
This is a church that you will only find by deliberately looking for it as it's tucked away behind the main road that runs through the village. Once you're in Barano you will see two churches if standing in the village centre, the Chiesa di San Sebastiano Martire at the bottom and the Chiesa di San Rocco at the top. To reach the Chiesa Madonna del Carmine, walk towards Chiesa di San Rocco and then turn right along the road next to it which is called Via Roma. After a few yards you will turn a bend and then see the church in front of you.
