GOOD MORNING ISCHIA! SATURDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2013
Welcome to our Ischia blog, Good Morning Ischia! Here you can see the entry for Saturday 9th November 2013.
Good morning Ischia!
Welcome to the weekend! I hope you're all enjoying a hard-earned lie-in with a cup of something warm to get you started for the day. The day in Ischia has started a little cloudy and according to the forecasts is set for a bit of a change with some light rain expected some time this evening and the wind getting up a bit at the same time. Temperatures remain high for the time of year and we should see something like 23° celcius (74° fahrenheit) this afternoon and a slightly cooler 18°C (64°F) tonight.
Today's photo is of the main kitchen and the wonderful, double-Michelin-starred Il Mosaico restaurant in Casamicciola. Housed at the five star Termi Manzi Hotel & Spa, the gourmet restaurant is famous for its cleverly-presented dishes, each one of which is a unique work of art. With just a small number of tables available each evening, the emphasis is very much on reaching the highest possible standards of quality and service to the customer.
One particular feature offered by Il Mosaico is the possibility of dining in the kitchen area itself. There are two or three tables available where you are surrounded by the award-winning chefs as they set about their work, a real treat for "foodies" who like to know how these special dishes are created.
With its Michelin recognition Il Mosaico is undoubtedly one of the most famous restaurants in Ischia but there are some fantastic rivals throughout the island with a whole range of cuisine available. While Il Mosaico offers a very modern twist with its colorful creations, there are some great restaurants in Casamicciola alone that offer some fantastic traditional food in a variety of settings. The beautifully refurbished Pizzeria del Corso for example offers a lot more than just pizzas alone with an elegant indoor dining area complemented by a large garden which can be used throughout the spring and summer.
Other notable restaurants in Casamicciola include U' Guarracino which is part of the Castiglione Thermal Park complex. The restaurant is accessible even if you're not visiting the thermal park and you have the pleasure of reaching it via the funicular railway that takes you down to it's seafront location with some magnificent views along the way. Then there's Il Focolare which offers something different from most of the seaside restaurants that specialise in fish. Set high up in the mountains, Il Focolare is a meat-lover's paradise with lamb, beef and of course the local speciality, rabbit all available.

Ok that's all from me today, I hope I haven't made you too hungry! Enjoy your weekend and I'll be back with some more tomorrow morning.
A presto!
