Ristorante La Lampara is the rooftop restaurant of the luxury five star hotel, Miramare e Castello which is located between the towns of Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte.
This famous restaurant sits in one of the best panoramic positions on the whole island with some truly stunning views. Looking in one direction there's the Italian mainland while if slightly adjusting your gaze the islands of Procida and Vivara come into view. You can also see Mount Vesuvius and the Sorrento peninsular but the one thing you can't miss is the sight of Castello Aragonese which feels so close it appears as if you could almost reach out and touch it.
With its white wrought iron tables and chairs and gleaming ceramic floor, this partially covered and partially open terrace really gives a sense of typical Italian style and elegance.
The food follows a similar pattern to the overall décor and surroundings, each dish carefully and colourfully presented to tantalise the appetite. The menu is wide and varied with some fabulous fish and pasta dishes available but there's also plenty to offer for meat lovers as well. Make sure you leave some room for a dessert as well because they almost match the views when it comes to presentation.
Despite being the restaurant of the hotel you don't have to be staying there as a guest if you want to eat there. If it's a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding anniversary or even a marriage proposal there can be few more romantic settings than this.

La Lampara and the Miramare e Castello Hotel are located alongside La Mandra Beach which lies slightly closer to Ischia Ponte than it does to Ischia Porto. If walking from Ischia Porto, go all the way through the main shopping streets of Via Roma and Corso Vittoria Colonna with the sea to your left. You can choose to walk alongside the beach or simply stay on the main shopping street because either way you'll eventually arrive at the right place. The hotel is the large, ochre-coloured building on the left hand side of the street and the restaurant is located on the roof terrace.
