Celebrations dedicated to San Giovan Giuseppe della Croce, the saint born in Ischia in 1654, patron saint and protector of Ischia, are taking place on the island this week. Tonight, Friday 28th August 2015, a live representation of the life of the saint will be played out along the streets of Ischia Ponte with the participants wearing custumes depicting the era. The event starts at 21:00 and there will of course be plenty of local food and wine available too.
Tomorrow, Saturday 29th August 2015 the traditional folk dance 'Ndrezzata will be performed in Buonopane at the sagra "Buonopane in Festa". The event will feature live music, folk dancing, comedians and delicious local food such as pasta with beans, the traditional Ischian rabbit dish "Coniglio Ischitano", sausages, salad "cafona", fried "zeppole" (doughnuts), and lots more wine! This one also starts at 21:00 and the village is best reached by bus or car if you have one. Have fun and say "hi" if you see us! Silvana
