Buongiorno a tutti! We've had all sorts of things going on this week in Ischia, not just because of the Libeccio and Scirocco winds giving the island's cars a light dusting of sand but also the parades, concerts and today's Carnevale celebrations. "Martedì Grasso" ("Mardi Gras" worldwide) marks the period of 40 days before Easter and across the island people are going to parties, meeting up with friends and above all, dressing up in all manner of costumes. A quick walk around Forio town centre this morning drew an above average number of encounters with princesses, Spidermen and a variety of animals. The aforementioned winds have now subsided to a light breeze and this morning's sunshine has given way to clouds and a temperature of 15° Celsius (59° Fahrenheit). Ciao :-)

Afternoon folks! It's a slightly grey and windy day in Ischia as we approach the end of February but looking ahead this appears to be a mere blip on the weather horizon. Right now at 5pm it's 16° Celsius (61° Fahrenheit) with the heavy cloud cover denying us our daily sunset fix. When writing these updates I often look for another type of fix beforehand and that usually comes in the form of coffee. One of the best caffeine delivery systems is the delicious Americanino (not to be confused with Americano) which can be seen in today's photo. The Americanino is similar to a small Cappuccino but with a stronger, more intense flavour and if you find a nice, friendly barman he may even add a dollop of delicious and unhealthy cream! Back with another update soon. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone! Another new week is upon us and it's high time for a little Ischia update. We're still in low season but there are increasing signs of things to come. The weather is one of those signs and we're really enjoying a glorious spell at the moment with plenty of sunshine and warm (by winter standards) temperatures. Right now for example at 1:30pm it's 15° Celsius (59° Fahrenheit) and that'll increase by a few notches as we get to late afternoon. Yesterday afternoon there were noticeably more people out and about with many of those trickling on to the beach for their Sunday family get together. The sunny spell should continue for most of this week & for now I'll sign off with a photo of Sant'Angelo. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks! Whether it's Manic, Blue or simply er unlikeable, Monday is nevertheless here and we've got a beautiful start to the week in Ischia. In fact we've had several days now where the weather has been (dare I say it?) almost spring-like. In fact there are a few signs that spring is on the way, the bright yellow Ginestra trees are in bloom already and the temperatures are gradually creeping up again. There were even some people down on the beach yesterday soaking up a few rays, not bad for the first half of February! It's sunny right now as well with a very agreeable 18° Celsius (64° Fahrenheit) at 2:45pm. For today's photo I'll leave you with the yellow-trimmed Cava dell'Isola Beach in Forio, a 10/15 minute walk from the town centre. Back with more soon. Ciao :-)
Hello, buongiorno and how are you all doing? It's been a long time since my last update, about a month in fact but I've been exploring Italy, looking for new ideas for the season ahead. Anyway I'm now back in Ischia and the work for 2017 begins in earnest. We're going through the website, updating it and making improvements where they need to be made and generally getting ourselves ready for the year ahead. In terms of the weather it's still very much winter at the moment, the heater is on and the sea is looking a bit grey and frothy right now. The week ahead seems to be promising more of the same with temperatures between a maximum of 15°C (59°F) and a minimum of 10°C (50°F). For today's photo I've chosen Fishermen's Beach in Ischia Ponte, charming all year round. Ciao :-)
