It's another balmy, sticky evening on the last day of July as the island gears up for the biggest event of the year. La Festa di Sant'Anna should have taken place last week on the 26th but due to what turned out to be some incorrectly negative weather forecasts it was postponed until this evening. So whilst many people were disappointed to miss out, many others will now get to witness this truly spectacular spectacle (can you really put those two words next to each other?)! Proceedings get under way from around 8:30pm but be sure to get down there as soon as you can as pretty much the whole island will be descending on Ischia Ponte. There's really nothing to report on the weather front at the moment, hot and sunny as standard. It's a hard life here! Ciao :-)

It's another hot and sticky day as the new week begins. Temperatures were really high over the weekend, causing the crickets to chirrup away and making that unmistakable sound that just says "summer". It still hasn't rained for such a long time but we might be in for a little change, at least for the first part of this week. There's been a bit of a breeze around this morning and it looks like that might develop into something stronger over the next 24 hours although the week-long outlook remains very positive. This being the final week of July we'll be flat out again but things start to change for us slightly as soon as August arrives. During August the large majority of visitors are Italian which means less need for us Ischia Reviewers but we're not quite there yet! Back soon. Ciao :-)
A new week begins in Ischia with the perpetual blue skies and hot weather that have been around for so long now that it's difficult to remember just what "other" weather is like. There is one important difference today though and that's the choppy seas with intermittent flecks of white dancing around the surface like a flock of sheep scattered by an aggressive dog. The conditions are not serious enough to be a threat to any travel plans though and this is beautifully illustrated by the sight of a huge white cruise ship entering the scene stage right, heading south to Sicily or Africa. So we're all set for another week of fun in the sun. Today's photo comes from the lovely, not to be missed village of Sant'Angelo and I'll be back to fill up this little space again soon. Ciao :-)
Day is turning to night again on what has been another sweltering day in Ischia. It's astonishing to think it's rained less than 3 days in the past 3 months and it's got to the stage where I don't even bother checking the weather forecasts anymore. We're getting to the hottest time of the year and even now at 8:30pm it's just a touch under 30° Celsius (86° Fahrenheit) which means you can go out at night with that lovely warm feeling all night. You could even sleep on the beach or go for a midnight dip if you wanted to. This afternoon I was down in the lovely bay of Citara in Forio, a magnet for weekend boaters attracted by its clear water, particularly in the area just in front of Poseidon Thermal Gardens as can be seen in today's photo. I might just go for that dip now! Back soon. Ciao :-)
Evening folks! At the risk of repetition it's been another beautiful Sunday in Ischia. Sometimes when you've been somewhere for a long time you start to take it for granted yet a quick walk around Ischia Ponte this afternoon reminded me what a truly unique, wonderful place this is. Walking down the hillside towards the village you're confronted with a view that it's really something special. On a clear day like today Capri looks like it's a 5 minute swim away while just behind Castello Aragonese there are the islands of Procida and Vivara while Mount Vesuvius looms large in the background. Cast your gaze slightly to the left and you can see some of Ischia's pretty beaches dotted with multi-coloured umbrellas. It's truly a blessing to be here. Back soon. Ciao :-)
