Afternoon folks! Spring officially arrives tomorrow and nature is naturally following suit with a distinct rise in temperatures, particularly at the lower end of the scale. It's been a while for example since the gas heater was turned on and the front door remains open for most of the day now. Having said all that, today is rather grey and whilst no rain is expected the clouds are forecast to stick around for the first part of next week. The current temperature at 3pm is 18° Celsius (64° Fahrenheit) with tonight's minimum due to be somewhere around 13°C (55°F). Today's photo is a lovely shot of Sant'Angelo taken from the Monte Cotto Walk in Barano, a great place for a ramble with its stunning views down to Maronti Beach and beyond. Back with more soon. Ciao :-)

Hello everyone! Even if the thermometer shows no more than 13° Celsius (55° Fahrenheit), we are starting to feel more and more that winter's end is near. The sun is shining strongly on the island, with the sound of robins singing in the air and the waves calmly brushing against the shore in the distance. From Fishermen's Beach in Ischia Ponte, the subject of today's photo, the boats are starting to be prepared to go out on the water. The paintbrushes are out in force, adorning the boats with names of loved ones, making one wonder who "Mariella" might be. Castello Aragonese looms large in the background while further evidence of the close season is provided by the roofless restaurant. The forecasts are predicting a fabulous week as idyllic island life continues. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's a beautiful day here in Ischia, perfect blue skies accompanied by a fairly stiff breeze and a current temperature of 17° Celsius (63° Fahrenheit). Over the last few days we've hand much stronger winds creating all sorts of havoc out at sea but things seem to be settling down for the rest of the week now. In fact the weather forecast for the next seven days is very positive indeed with not a rain cloud in sight and similar temperatures to those of today. By the way, today is International Women's Day and in Ischia it's celebrated by men giving women sprigs or bunches of Mimosa. The Mimosa trees grow freely on the island which gives men the choice of "borrowing" a little bit from a tree or buying one from one of the road-side vendors. Ciao :-)
Greetings from a very windy Ischia. Today we had a sunny and warm day with the tranquility of the low season on the island. Although not everything was calm as a herd of kite-surfers invaded Chiaia Beach in Forio, taking advantage of the powerful tide and big waves that today's wind brought. They certainly made the most of the opportunity with one of the surfers spending more than 5 hours between the waves of Ischia. Looking ahead, the weather forecast suggests the kite-surfers will stay at home for the rest of the week with low winds and plenty of sunshine around. Today being Ash Wednesday, the countdown to Easter begins and even closer on the horizon, Spring is 3 weeks away today. Ciao :-)
