Buona domenica a tutti! It's a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in Ischia, slightly cooler than it's been over the last few days which makes it pretty much ideal. The extraordinarily long dry spell has continued for yet another week and there's still no sign of any rain on the horizon which will no doubt please most visitors, if not my basil plants. Looking out as I do on to the bay of Citara in Forio I can see dozens of yachts have taken up the usual Sunday position, just in front of Poseidon Thermal Gardens. That particular spot is one of many around the island which are popular for their crystal clear, shallow water, perfect for taking a relaxing dip in, another one being the beautiful bay of La Scannella in Panza which is the subject of today's photo. Back with another update soon. Ciao :-)

Afternoon folks! It's a steamy, sultry Sunday afternoon in Ischia with the temperature gauge reaching up to the 30's and just a touch of wind to keep us all a bit cooler. Right now the conditions at sea are fairly calm but that wasn't the case this morning after some heavy overnight winds left white horses galloping over the waves for the first part of the day. There was supposed to be some rain last night as well but it never materialised and that means it's now a matter of months since the last downpour which is very odd indeed and playing havoc with gardens at present. Some plants and flowers are more resilient than others though and that's nicely demonstrated in today's photo of Castiglione Thermal Park in Casamicciola where the Bougainvillea is in full flourish. Ciao :-)
Evening all! Although the weekend is drawing to a close it's not quite finished yet and over here in Forio's Citara Bay, things are just getting started. It's often around this time of night that the sounds of hotel entertainment evenings waft their way across to the Ischia Review terrace and right now a distant crooner is warming up his vocal cords ready to regale his guests with his dulcet tones. In this little corner of the world it's not unusual to see spontaneous firework shows, in fact it's more unusual for yours truly to survive an evening without jumping out of his skin as the first firecracker booms around the bay. Anyway enough about my shredded nervous system, looking at the weather we're in for another dry, sunny week with temperatures on the rise. Back soon. Ciao :-)
Buona Domenica everyone! It's a sizzling Sunday in Ischia with the thermometer currently showing 27° Celsius, a touch over 80° Fahrenheit for the first time this year I think. It's been another busy weekend here as Friday was a national holiday (La Festa della Repubblica) and that always brings a big influx of visitors across from the mainland making the most of the extra day off. Throughout the weekend it's been interesting to see the number of boats out on the water, here in Citara Bay in Forio there were dozens earlier this afternoon but they're now gradually making their way home as the weekend draws to a close. There's still no sign of rain on the horizon for the coming week which is great if you're visiting but not if you're a gardener! Back soon. Ciao :-)
