Buona domenica everyone. Spring has officially arrived and we've had a gorgeous day to mark it. From early morning it's been sunny and at one stage we were up to 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit) for the first time this year. With Sunday being a family day it meant there were lots of people out and about, particularly for the post-lunch Passeggiata and there were even a few people soaking up the rays on the beaches. The temperature has dropped somewhat since sunset and right now at 6:15pm it's 15°C (59°F) which has caused me to flick on the gas heating for a quick blast. For the next few days we should see dry conditions with a mixture of sunny and cloudy spells before a few showers arrive on Wednesday. Today's photo shows Maronti Beach and I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Greetings everyone. We've got an absolutely sumptuous afternoon in Ischia and by my reckoning it's the hottest day we've had so far this year. It's amazing what a difference the nicer weather makes when you see so many more people out and about including the first trickle of tourists. Things are almost ready for the summer season now with Easter next weekend and today's sunshine is perfectly timed. Right now at 3:45pm it's 18° Celsius (64° Fahrenheit) and conditions look set fair for the weekend. The temperatures and forecasts for next week are a little bit mixed so we'll wait and see what happens there. Today's photo comes from Il Fungo Beach in Lacco Ameno, the smallest town on the island but full of charm and excellent facilities. Back again tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's that time of the week when everything starts to slow down a bit as the weekend approaches. It's been a really quiet day in Ischia in terms of the weather. As I look out of my window I can see a very calm sea with a distant cruise ship moving from stage right to stage left, almost imperceptibly slowly. Right now at 3:45pm it's 16° Celsius (61° Fahrenheit) and just as I type the sun pops out, having been mostly hidden behind some clouds for the best part of the day. Looking ahead at the next few days, the last remnants of rain and cloud should clear this evening, leaving some nice bright spells over the weekend and into the middle of next week. Temperatures look set for a bit of a jump too, up to around 18°C (64°F) on Monday. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. We've had a much better day today in terms of the weather after a really up and down week. From early this morning until mid-afternoon it was bright, sunny and warm but over the last hour or so it's clouded over a bit. Right now at 3:30pm it's 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit), feeling a bit chillier but with hardly a breath of wind and conditions out at sea nice and calm. For the rest of this evening we may see some rain which will come and go in patches until around this time tomorrow afternoon. The weekend is shaping up nicely though with plenty of sunny spells and temperatures on the rise. Today's photo is one of my favourite sights on the island, a beautiful vintage Fiat 500 of which there are none better than this bright green beauty! Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Wow what a difference a few hours make! From very early this morning until a couple of hours ago we had a huge downpour interspersed with thunder and the type of lightning that temporarily breaks your internet connection (in my case at least). Since then though it's been all change and right now at 3:45pm we've got clear blue skies with a warm-feeling temperature of 16° Celsius (61° Fahrenheit). At this time of year you can never be 100% sure what the weather is going to do from one day to the next and this is reflected in the forecasts which are no more than best guesses, suggesting a mixture of sunny and wet spells for the next few days. Today's photo comes from the pretty village of Sant'Angelo and I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. We're having one of those "four seasons in one day" days today with a little bit of everything so far. This morning started well enough with plenty of sunshine around and then all of a sudden, along came a storm seemingly out of nowhere. The storm brought with it thunder, rain and most surprisingly of all, hailstones which judging by their size would have stung the head of anybody who was unfortunate enough to be outside at that time. Right now at 4:15pm it's 12° Celsius (54° Fahrenheit), raining but not too heavy and there appears to be some brighter stuff in the distance. The wet weather is due to stay on and off for the next few days (more "on" than "off" in fact) before clearing up towards the weekend. Back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks! It's been a while since my last update so I thought it was high time I got back to keeping you all informed of the daily goings on and weather in Ischia. In terms of the "goings on" part there's little to report other than that we're rapidly approaching this year's early Easter which is when the island's own resurrection occurs with thermal parks, hotels and restaurants reawakening after their winter hibernation. Speaking of winter, well it's very nearly finished and there are a few signs of spring in the air. Right now at 4:30pm it's sunny and warmish with a temperature of 16° Celsius (61° Fahrenheit) and tomorrow looks like it'll be a similar story. Wednesday is looking a bit iffy at the moment but I'll be back to update on that in more detail tomorrow. Buona serata. Ciao :-)
