Evening everyone, I hope you're all enjoying a "buona domenica" as they say here in Ischia. The sun is just setting on the west coast of the island now, a time when many of the locals take a post-lunch Passeggiata with popular spots including the coast road between Forio town centre and Citara Beach. The weather has continued in the same vein as the week that's now been and gone, mostly cloudy with a few sunny spells. Right now at 5:15pm it's 15° Celsius (59° Fahrenheit), dry and with a fairly gentle breeze. Some rain is expected later on this evening but should eventually clear to leave a bright Monday morning. Today's photo comes from the Sentiero Baia Pelara in Panza, one of the many walking routes in Ischia that we've listed on the site. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. Ischia is once again a picture of calm as we see out the last couple of days of January. It's hard to know whether winter is gradually on the way out or about to finally hit in a big way because so far it's really felt really mild. Today has unfolded much like the last few days, a battle between cloudy and sunny spells which is being consistently won by the clouds. There's also a slight breeze today causing a ripple or two out at sea but nothing serious. Right now at 2:45pm the temperature is 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit) and that won't drop by much as we get into this evening. Tomorrow sees the Festa di San Ciro in the little hamlet of Ciglio in Serrara Fontana and there could be some rain around while that's on. Anyway, back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening folks. It's just about "sneaking out of work early time" by now, go on I'm sure your boss won't mind on a Friday evening. We've had a largely uneventful day here in terms of the weather, it started out cloudy before brightening up in the afternoon but there's been no wind, rain or any vaguely interesting weather features to remark upon, just as well I guess. Right now at 6pm it's 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit), slightly warmer than yesterday and I've just about avoided putting the heating on all day, albeit with a multitude of layered clothing instead. The current conditions look set to continue on into tomorrow but there is the possibility of some rain coming over the weekend. Speaking of which, you can all now go and enjoy yours. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. Today's update comes just a few moments after a spectacular sunset unfolded over Forio on the west coast of the island. From where I sit and work I get the perfect view of this every evening but it's never the same and tonight was really something. At one stage there was a thick, straight red beam protruding from the sun across the water, just before the sky turned an amber colour with dark brown clouds behind it. After taking some great photos it suddenly changed to this amazing, purply red colour which you can see in today's photo. Simply beautiful! In terms of the weather, right now at 5:30pm it's 12° Celsius (54° Fahrenheit) and we're in for a similar day tomorrow, cloudy with some sunny spells. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. Well it's been another very pleasant day today in Ischia, without the sunshine that we've had over the previous few days but conversely the cloud cover has brought with it some extra warmth which is always welcome at this time of year. Right now at 4pm it's 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit) and somewhere between cloudy and sunny if that makes sense. This should more or less be the state of affairs for the next week or so with nothing dramatic in terms of wind or rain expected. Today's photo comes from the town of Lacco Ameno, one of my favourite places on the island. It's really only very small but it's full of good stuff like San Montano Beach, Negombo Thermal Gardens and no fewer than 4 five star hotels. I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening all. The sun has just exited stage left, leaving a warm, dark orange glow in its wake, reminding me for some reason of a Terry's Chocolate Orange (a very strangely shaped one). The colourful horizon gives a hint to what kind of day it's been with clear skies and sunshine once again dominating proceedings. Right now at 5:45pm it's 10° Celsius (50° Fahrenheit) and feeling a bit chilly as the temperature gradually drops through the evening. The outlook for tomorrow morning is bright but we're then expected to see some cloud cover move in for the afternoon. If any of you are planning a holiday then check our Ischia Events Calendar which we've just updated with all the important dates for the year. On that note I'll bid you all a Buona Serata until tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone. The new week has got off to an excellent start with another beautiful day. This morning was a bit nippy but things have gradually warmed up throughout the day and right now at 3:45pm it's 14° Celsius (57° Fahrenheit), sunny but with a bit of wind that we didn't have yesterday. The temperature will of course drop this evening with a minimum of 10°C (50°F) expected before another mostly clear day tomorrow. Having looked back through the updates for the equivalent days last year it shows conditions are very similar and we won't see any great change in temperature from now until the middle of March when things should start to warm up a bit. Today's photo comes from a lovely little cottage in Sant'Angelo and I'll be back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon folks. Our run of fine weather continues on what is an absolutely glorious Sunday in Ischia. It's really strange to think we're in the middle of winter and you can stand outside feeling warm in the sunshine. Ok it's not quite sunbathing weather but during the middle part of the day at least it's nice enough to go out for a walk in the countryside without the need for a jacket. Right now at 1:45pm it's 14° Celsius with not a single cloud in the sky or the faintest breath of wind. Conditions should remain like this for the rest of the day although at this time of year a clear evening means a cold evening with temperatures dropping down to about 7°C (45°F). For today's photo I've chosen Sorgeto Hot Springs where you can bathe all year round, even today! A domani. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's been a very pleasant day here so far, starting off a bit chilly before warming up as the sun started to rise. There was a brief period this morning where it looked as though it might rain but the sunshine has since taken control again. Right now at 2:30pm it's 12° Celsius (54° Fahrenheit) and the only cloud I can see is a little wispy effort over towards Punta Imperatore. There's absolutely no wind whatsoever at the moment and the rest of the day should continue as it is now. There's a chance of some very light rain overnight but tomorrow is expected to be fine once again. Today's photo was taken this morning from the area known as Zaro, a real beauty spot which enjoys some wonderful views around Forio and in this case San Francesco Bay. A domani. Ciao :-)
Evening all. The sun has just set in Ischia leaving a warm red glow on the horizon. It's been an absolutely beautiful day, flawless you might even say with hardly a speck of cloud and constant sunshine throughout the day. It was quite cold this morning before the sun started heating up Forio and it's just starting to get chilly again. Right now at 5:30pm it's 10° Celsius (50° Fahrenheit), getting dark and with hardly any wind at all. That temperature will drop by a few degrees this evening which is expected to be clear and we look set for a similar day tomorrow. Today's photo comes from the harbour in Casamicciola Terme, one of three ports with connections to Naples on the mainland, the other two being Forio and Ischia Porto. Back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
