Afternoon all. We had a bit of a grey start to the day but since then things have cleared up nicely and we're currently enjoying a very pleasant spell of sunshine. There's a very gentle breeze around but it's warm enough to have the windows open and the temperature right now at 2pm is 17° Celcius (63° Fahrenheit). Of course it's not only the afternoon temperatures that have picked up over the last week or so but it's also that bit warmer in the evenings with a minimum of 10°C (50°F) predicted, meaning it's almost time to put the gas heater away for another 8 months or so! The coming week is looking very settled with similar temperatures and conditions to those we're enjoying this afternoon. Today's photo comes from the colourful Sant'Angelo harbour. Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Ciao a tutti! It seems like such a long time since our last update, in fact it's been just over a week but we're back in place now and raring to go. In fact it's as if the island has been transformed during that time, the sun's out, it's warm and there are people on the beaches. For anyone on the island today there's a mini version of the Passion of the Christ taking place this evening down in San Francesco Bay so if that's of interest drop us a line and we'll send you all the info you need for that. Today's photo comes from Lacco Ameno harbour and was taken this morning. The temperature right now is 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) and the outlook for the next few days is looking good very positive too. I'll be back with another update tomorrow but just let us know if you need anything. Ciao :-)
Afternoon all. As forecast yesterday, we've got a continuation of this mini damp and grey spell. We've had some showers this morning and there are more expected throughout the day. Right now at 1:15pm the temperature is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) and that will drop just a little bit this evening, down to a minimum of 11°C (52°F) which is slightly warmer than it's been of late. Looking ahead, there'll be more wet weather tomorrow but the sun will be out again from Wednesday onwards which should also bring about a significant jump in temperatures, up to around 17°C (63°F). Today's photo comes from the Cenatiempo Vineyard in Serrara Fontana where we offer wine tours accompanied by some delicious home made food. Drop us a line for prices and availability. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica a tutti! In terms of the weather however it hasn't been a particularly "Happy Sunday" so far. There were some heavy showers this morning and since then we've had a sheet of grey cloud covering the island. Right now at 2pm the temperature is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) and that should go no lower than around 9°C (48°F) this evening. This cloudy and rainy spell is due to last until Tuesday. at which point we should be set for a prolonged spell of brighter and just as importantly, warmer weather. In contrast to today's overhead conditions, for today's photo I've chosen a nice, sunny shot taken from one of may favourite corners of Ischia, the beautiful path that leads from Sant'Angelo village down to Maronti Beach where you can then take a water taxi back. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone, I hope you're all enjoying the weekend and we're enjoying another fine day here in Ischia. Plenty of sunshine around and the island is slowly slowly warming up as we approach the official start of spring with Easter just round the corner now too. The temperature right now at 2:15pm is 15° Celcius (59° Fahrenheit) which will drop no lower than around 8°C (46°F) this evening. Looking ahead, the next two or three days could be a bit unsettled with some rain expected, a spell that could last until the middle of next week, after which things should improve again. This morning I took a ride up to one of the best views on the island and couldn't help but share this again as today's photo, even if it's a view we've shown before, the belvedere of Zaro in Forio. Ciao :-)
My word I've just realised it's Friday the 13th! And there's me leaving the house, crossing roads and doing all sorts of other daring activities! Well despite my courageous output this morning I've managed to survive at least until 4:15pm and I can tell you we've had a glorious day of sunshine so far and there's plenty more in store over the weekend. The temperature right now is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) but it was a good few degrees warmer than that at lunch time. The minimum temperature this evening will be 8°C (46°F) so still feeling cold but heading in the right direction. It's difficult to describe the mass of yellow flowers that are everywhere you look on the island this morning so I'll let today's photo of Forio tell its own story...Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon Ischia followers everywhere! We've got a much colder, darker day than we had yesterday and despite my assertion that there would be no rain for the forseeable future we had a huge downpour and storm this morning! The wind from that storm is still around but the rain was only short-lived and left some clouds in its wake. The temperature right now at 2pm is 12° Celcius (54° Fahrenheit) but feeling colder with the wind chill. Tonight will be colder still, down to as little as 4°C (39°F) but the days ahead look more promising with temperatures on the rise early next week. Today's photo comes from the wonderful Ravino Gardens in Forio where amongst the amazing collection of cacti and succulents you'll find the friendly peacocks and pea-hens. Back tomorrow :-)
Hi everyone, it's another beautiful day in Ischia. Nice and sunny with just a slight breath of wind. It really is a great time of year to be on the island as all the spring flowers start to bloom. A few days ago we showed a photo of the mimosa trees but the whole island is bathed in yellow with daisies & buttercups creating a floral carpet. The temperature right now at 1:30pm is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit), dropping down to a minimum of 8°C (46°F) this evening. The outlook for the rest of this week looks very similar while next week could bring a couple of showers but slightly warmer temperatures. Today's photo comes from the Monte di Panza walk, close to Sorgeto Hot Springs with the magnificent view of Sant'Angelo in the distance. Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon all, it's a gorgeous day in Ischia today, full of sunshine, blue skies and a nice bit of warmth too. The dampness of February now seems to be well and truly behind us and spring is fully up and running. Wandering around the island this morning you can't help but notice the change in seasons with all the flowers starting to come out and people are already starting to head down to the beaches for a spot of tanning. The temperature right now at 1:45pm is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit), cooling quite significantly this evening down to a minimum of 8°C (46°F). The week ahead still looks very settled with no rain expected until next Monday but even then just a few showers. Today's photo comes from Cartaromana Beach in Ischia Ponte. Back with more tomorrow :-)
Good afternoon everyone, it's been a great day in Ischia so far today with lots of sunshine around and the wind that's been tormenting us for a few days finally seems to have calmed down. Just coming up to 5pm the temperature is 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit), dropping down to a minimum of 8°C (46°F) this evening which is all a bit colder than average for this time of year. The next two weeks look very settled with very little rain around and predominantly sunny days with similar temperatures to those of today. Today's photo comes from one of the most picturesque bays on the island, La Scannella where the crystal clear water provides a magnet for yachts and leisure boats to stop for a swim or a snorkel. That's all for today anyway, back again tomorrow :-)
