Afternoon everyone! Our mini damp spell has come to an arid end and we're now enjoying some very favourable, spring-like conditions with a mixture of sunshine and a few clouds. In all honesty the damp spell was a bit too mini if anything and the island is still feeling a bit thirsty but we're not really complaining anyway. Right now at 2:45pm it's 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) while tonight's minimum will be 13°C (55°F). The rest of this week looks very settled and come Sunday/Monday we're going to see temperatures rise quite sharply which is all very agreeable. Today's photo comes from the one and only Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte. Our facebook likers will find a special movie update later so watch that space..... Back with more weather tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Greetings Ischia lovers wherever you may be! It's a slightly tardy update on a day where we've had a bit of nearly everything today (slight exaggeration perhaps) with wind, rain & sunshine all having made brief or cameo appearances. The main protagonist at the moment is the wind which is making the sea very noisy and a bit rough. We're down on temperature too, right now at 5pm it's 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) but at least not dropping by more than a couple of degrees tonight. This mini-bad spell should come to an end by tomorrow morning with plenty of sunshine on the way and a big jump in temperatures next week. Today's photo is by special request, sunny and hopefully colourful too, a nice shot of Forio port in more lucid times. Back with more weather tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. How are you all settling in to the working week? At least the first bit's over and done with now eh? We've got a slightly underwhelming day here in terms of the weather, there have been some showers which were much needed after something approaching a drought. It's colder today than it has been too and right now at 3:30pm it's 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) However the heavy cloud cover will ensure we go no lower than 14°C (57°F) this evening. Tomorrow looks like it might be quite nasty with storms expected so do keep an eye on the ferries and hydrofoils if you're planning on arriving on the island over the next 24 hours or so. Today's photo comes from Ischia Ponte and I'll be back with another update tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica everyone! We've got a reasonably nice Sunday afternoon but a little short of what you might call perfect. There's a mixture of sunshine and cloud, but that kind of light cloud that you're never quite sure if it's actually cloud or not (if you know what I mean?). The temperature right now at 1:30pm is pretty good though, 21° Celcius (70° Fahrenheit) and dropping no lower than 14°C (57°F) this evening. If you're on the island at this point in time I would suggest getting out and about now because we're in for some rain tomorrow and getting worse on Monday when storms are forecast. Today's photo comes from the village of Fontana, a proud doorway with an idyllic spring look showcasing the season's selection of flowers. Back tomorrow with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Hello everyone. The weekend is in full swing and we've got a fairly nice Saturday afternoon on our hands. The morning started with lots of sunshine but things have just clouded over a little as I write. There's a bit of breeze around but conditions out at sea remain calm and the temperature right now at 2:30pm is a shade over 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit). Tonight's minimum shouldn't drop any lower than 12°C (54°F), remaining dry but with some clouds lurking. The story for Sunday is very similar and then as we get into the early part of next week we're in for a bit of a bump with rain expected on Monday and Tuesday before clearing again by Wednesday. Today's photo comes from the clear, sunny Chiaia Beach in Forio, next to the town centre. Back tomorrow, ciao:-)
Afternoon folks. It's nearly the weekend but we haven't quite got weekend weather at the moment. It's a bit grey and gloomy but at least dry. Right now at 1:30pm the temperature is 19° Celcius (66° Fahrenheit) and this evening will go no lower than 14°C (57°F). Looking at the situation for the next 7 days, things are a little bit up and down, there's some sunshine around but also some clouds and rain expected too, particularly on Monday. Things do change very quickly here though so keep an eye on our daily updates if you're planning a visit soon. Today's photo was taken at Bar Cocò in Ischia Ponte and shows the delicious Caffè Leccese (pronounced "Letchayzay" kind of). It's an iced coffee made with almond milk, the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day. Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Evening all. Back on the naughty step for me as today's update comes a bit late in the day, but hopefully better than never at least. It's been a warm day but the skies haven't been as perfectly blue as we've had over previous days, the sun gallantly vying for sky supremacy with some very resilient clouds who at this very moment appear to be winning that little battle. Right now at 6pm it's still nice and warm though with a temperature of 21° Celcius (70° Fahrenheit). That should drop quite sharply over the next few hours, down to a minimum of 11°C (52°F). The outlook for next week is reasonably positive although there does appear to be the chance of the odd shower here and there. I'll leave you with today's photo, an out of position boat in Ischia...Back tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buongiorno a tutti! The learned folk that read our daily updates will be among those unsurprised to hear that we have another magnificent afternoon in Ischia. There's a trickle of people on the beaches and they're gradually getting closer to that shoreline as the temperature rises day by day. Right now at 1:30pm it's 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) but without yesterday's cooling breeze, it feels somewhat warmer. Tonight's minimum will be 10°C (58°F) and looking at the week ahead we're in for more of the same but with perhaps the tiniest chance of a light shower tomorrow night. For today's photo I've chosen to go with another colourful shot, this one showing the full spectrum of blues, reds, yellows and everything in between down at Maronti Beach. A domani, ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. Momentarily tearing myself away from the computer to check things out from the patio I am happy to report we've got another spectacular day in Ischia, so much so that said patio door shall henceforth remain open. The mercury is tipping 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) and we look set fair for more of the same for at least the next seven days. With the clear skies it'll drop down to a minimum of 10°C (50°F) tonight so there's still the need for a light jacket, cardigan or whatever your preferred choice of over-garment may be. Today's photo comes from a garden in Panza, showing the full array of colours on display as we move deeper into spring. I'll be back with another update tomorrow but just drop us a line if you need any help with all things Ischia. Ciao :-)
Hello everyone, back on the afternoon shift and happy to be so. It's another beautiful spring day, somewhere just south of what you'd describe as hot and a little north of what you'd describe as mild. Let's go with warm then....Temperature-wise it's exactly 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit), those numbers being kept relatively low by a light, cooling breeze. There will be a bit of a drop tonight with a minimum of 9°C (48°F) expected and a similar weather pattern seems to be in place for the rest of this week. Yesterday afternoon we made it down to Chiesa del Soccorso in Forio just in time to see a selection of vintage scooters but upstaging them all in my opinion was this beautiful Ape Truck which has been awarded the status of "Today's Photo". I'll be back with more tomorrow anyway, ciao :-)
