Ciao ragazzi! As expected, the weather turned a bit grumpy today. We've had lots of rain both this morning and this afternoon as well as some pretty fearsome (I'm a generally fearful person and slightly prone to exaggeration so bear that in mind) thunder and lightning overnight. Right now at 8pm it's 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit), dry but with more rain sure to follow throughout the evening. Tomorrow should start brightly before the rain returns again in the afternoon but Saturday morning promises to be a turning point with clear skies expected at least until the middle of next week. Keep an eye out for Silvana's post coming soon, an interesting event taking place tomorrow night on Ischia's neighbouring island, Procida which is the star of today's photo. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Evening folks! Things are getting quieter and quieter on the island as we see out the last few days of October and we're really at that stage now where most hotels and thermal parks are either closed or about to shortly. However if you do want to come here during the winter there are still plenty of places to stay and things to do so don't be afraid to ask if you need some help! We've had a mild day with a little bit of wind, a little bit of sunshine and as yet, no rain. Right now at 8pm it's 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) but tomorrow could see some heavy wind and rain about. From Friday things should brighten up though and we look set for a prolonged spell of dryer, sunnier weather. Today's photo comes from an autumnal looking Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte. A domani, Ciao :-)
Hello everyone. It's a warm and pleasant evening on what's been a generally pleasant day. There were long periods of sunshine this morning before the afternoon became a little cloudy. Unfortunately on one of the few occasions I went out without the camera there was the biggest moon I've ever seen as I drove from Casamicciola towards Ischia Porto. I'm assuming it was the moon rather than another planet as I guess that might have made rather bigger news than gets reported on Ischia Review, but I wonder if there was some kind of lunar event type thing happening tonight that caused this? Anyway right now at 9pm it's 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit), tomorrow could see a few spots of rain and Thursday slightly worse. Today's photo comes from Forio harbour. Ciao :-)
Evening folks! Still getting used to the clocks changing and therefore the much earlier sunsets here. It really does feel like autumn now and that's emphasised by the cooler weather. That said, it hasn't been what you'd describe as "cold" today with a maximum of 18° Celcius (64° Fahrenheit) this afternoon, not too shabby at all. Right now at 8:30pm it's dropped just a little to 16°C (61°F) while looking ahead we've got a mixed week in store. Tomorrow should be sunny and warm before we get a bit of everything between Wednesday and Friday with some storms expected particularly on Thursday. Today's photo comes from a lovely part of the island, Punta Chiarito in Panza, a great area for taking walks at this time of year. Back with more tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Hello again everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your extra hour lie-in this morning, not that it's much use on a Sunday of course, I've always thought it would be much better appreciated first thing on a Monday morning, what's the official reason for that? Today started very brightly and was fairly warm at one stage before the sun hid away and the temperature dropped. With that hour lost in the evening now it feels very odd and was dark here around 5:30pm. Right now at 7pm the temperature is 15° Celcius (59° Fahrenheit) and tomorrow looks like it might be cloudy but the picture for Tuesday has improved and it'll hopefully be bright before perhaps changing again on Wednesday. Today's photo comes from Punta San Pancrazio in Barano. Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Evening all! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend and we've enjoyed another day of beautiful yet breezy weather here in Ischia. Out and about on the scooter this morning one particular gust nearly sent me flying but those expert manipulators of wind the kite-surfers were out in full force today and you can just about make out one of them in the background of this photo of Il Fungo Rock in Lacco Ameno. The wind did gradually die down in the end and right now at 8pm it's all nice and calm with a temperature of 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit) although it was as high as 20°C (68°F) this afternoon. Tomorrow looks like it'll be nice, less windy than today but with a mixture of sunny and cloudy spells. The outlook for next week is a bit unsettled so let's see how it turns out. Ciao :-)
Buona sera everyone. It's been a much improved day in Ischia, last night the wind and rain got quite heavy at times so it was a really nice surprise to wake to bluer skies and no sign of rain. The sea was still a little rough this morning but it seems to have calmed down a bit over the course of the day. Right now at 7:15pm it's getting a bit chilly at 16° Celcius (61° Fahrenheit) but actually slightly up on yesterday. We're set for another couple of days of sunshine both tomorrow and on Sunday but the picture after that is looking a bit iffy at the moment so let's see how that develops. Today's photo shows the after-effect of a storm on the seas around Ischia which creates these beautiful swirls of different shades of blue that change every time you see them. Enjoy your weekend. Ciao :-)
Evening everyone. It's been another damp day here in Ischia with intermittent showers throughout the day, very little sunshine and feeling slightly cold at times. Right now at 8:30pm for example it's just 14° Celcius (57° Fahrenheit) but things are looking better for tomorrow and the next few days. We're set for a sunny spell that should last at least until Monday and temperatures will be a bit higher too with around 18°C (64°F) expected. Anyone on the island at the moment might have noticed little trucks carrying olives around because right now is the time when they can be picked and used to make oil or left for a while to be eaten whole. To make a good quality oil you need around 10kg to make one litre so that lot in today's photo is worth around 6 litres! Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon all! Welcome back to a very grey and damp Ischia as our spell of bad weather continues. Both yesterday and today have felt significantly more autumnal than we've had up until now and with the nights drawing in earlier each evening it only serves to emphasise that feeling. However, once again it's not as bad as the forecasts were telling us and certainly not as windy. Right now at 5:45pm it's just 15° Celcius (59° Fahrenheit) but it's not all doom and gloom on the weather front as tomorrow and the week that follows look much better with mainly sunshine and just a few clouds expected. Today's photo comes from Ischia Ponte where a ferry expertly winds its way between Castello Aragonese and the tiny island of Vivara. I'll be back with more tomorrow.
Evening everyone as a timely distant church bell chimes for the hour. It's been a day that has threatened really bad weather but in the end it's been quite mild. A thick band of black cloud has hovered in the distance all day, like a timid teenager afraid to make the first move. There was one very brief shower but apart from that it's stayed dry and the wind has only been occasional too. Right now at 8pm it's 20° Celcius (68° Fahrenheit) and looking ahead to tomorrow it looks like we could be in for some more of the unpredictable stuff which I suppose is another way of saying I don't know! We'll see anyway, one thing there's no doubt about is the beauty of Sant'Angelo in this photo which was taken over the weekend from Monte Cotto. Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
