Afternoon everyone. It's the start of a new week and we've got another beautiful day in Ischia. Right now at 2:45pm it's 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) and as has been the case for quite some time now, it's bright, sunny and with nothing more than a very light breeze filling the air. Tonight will be quite hot with a minimum of 22°C (72°F) and for the next 7 days we're set for an upgrade in the heat by at least a couple of degrees. Today's photo comes from Castello Aragonese in Ischia Ponte which is the setting for the annual Ischia Film Festival. The festival opened on Saturday and will last until Saturday 4th July during which time there'll be a series of screenings from largely up and coming actors, writers and directors. I'll be back with another update tomorrow, ciao :-)
Buona domenica a tutti! It's a slow, sleepy Sunday in Ischia and feeling a little more muggy than it has done in previous days. It's still nice and warm but there are a few wispy clouds around with very little breeze making for these slightly close conditions. Right now at 12:45pm it's 27° Celcius (81° Fahrenheit) but that should rise by a few notches as we get into the hottest part of the afternoon around 4pm. Tonight's minimum will once again be 20°C (68°F) and the outlook for the next week is great for holidaymakers but not such a thrill for gardeners with no prospect of rain and temperatures soaring as we get into July. Today's photo from Maronti Beach offers the remedy to those sizzling temperatures, just makes you want to go and dive in doesn't it? A domani, ciao :-)
Buona sera folks! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend. The scene outside is perfectly set with the sky the faintest shade of pale blue and as the sun gradually makes it way towards the horizon it leaves a huge patch of silvery gold on the surface of the sea in roughly the same place as where the moon will be casting its slightly more subtle light this evening. Right now at 5:30pm it's 29° Celcius (84° Fahrenheit), feeling very hot today but with just a slight breeze for company. Tonight's little mother ("mini - mum" see what I did there?) will be the customary 20°C (68°F) and we're set fair with good weather for the predictable future. Today's photo comes from another "belvedere", this one in Zaro looking down on to San Francesco Beach in Forio. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon all! Another Friday rolls in seemingly from nowhere and all of a sudden the weekend is upon us. As you'd expect at this time of year the weather is fabulous and as I look outside I can see the first few yachts moving in to position for a weekend of sunbathing and swimming. Right now at 2:45pm the temperature gauge is stuck in its customary afternoon position of 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) with another beautiful evening in store at a minimum of 20°C (68°F). Looking ahead at the foreseeable future it's a case of more of the same and with July looming things should start to get even hotter. Today's photo comes from the belvedere ("nice view"/viewing area) in the village of Serrara where you get this magnificent view down to Sant'Angelo. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona sera ragazzi. We're getting towards the end of another sweltering afternoon in Ischia. First thing this morning there were some fairly strong winds around making conditions rough out at sea but at the moment there's absolutely zero breeze with plants and flowers seeming unrealistically still as if frozen in time. Right now at 6:15pm is 29° Celcius (84° Fahrenheit) and we'll have quite a high minimum of 21°C (70°F) tonight. Looking at the next seven days there's really nothing to report apart from much more of the same glorious conditions that we've had for so long now. Today's photo comes from Forio on the west coast of the island where the spectacular sunsets set the sky on fire. There'll be another one of those along soon so I'll sign off now and be back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. It's a sultry, soporific afternoon in Ischia, sunny at times and kind of cloudy at others with an unpredictable wind that comes in fits and starts. Right now at 3:45pm it's 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit) and we're expecting another warm evening with a minimum of 21°C (70°F). Actually today is a special day in Ischia and Italy in general. In the country where every name of a saint is celebrated each day, today happens to be the name day of San Giovanni. There's myth that says you shouldn't swim in the sea today because it's full of knives, a legend that derives from a terrible battle that was fought off the coast of Forio between pirates and islanders! Thankfully the town is a much calmer place these days as you can see in today's photo. A domani, ciao :-)
Buona sera a tutti! It's a sizzling, spectacular sun-kissed afternoon in Ischia and if my calculations are correct, the hottest day of the year so far. Right now at 4:15pm it's 31° Celcius (88° Fahrenheit) but there in an occasional breeze that wafts over every now and then to cool us all down a bit. Tonight will be warm and possibly slightly muggy with a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F). Looking at the forecast for the next seven days well there's really nothing to see, just exactly the same conditions as we've got today and have had for the memorable past (I do have a terrible memory it has to be said though). Today's photo comes from the unique and strange surrounds of Sorgeto Hot Springs in Panza where it's pretty much always hot! Back with more tomorrow, ciao :-)
Afternoon everyone. The summer is officially one day old and with yesterday's summer solstice we're at the peak of daylight hours, tonight's sunset due some time around 8:39pm (to be ultra precise!). As has been the prevailing trend of late, we've got another beautiful day here, right now at 2:45pm it's 29° Celcius (84° Fahrenheit) and tonight's minimum should be around 19°C (66°F). The next 7 days remain as positive as you could wish for although there is the bizarre prediction of a shower at 11am on Wednesday! Apart from that there's really nothing to talk about so if you're here or on your way here you can turn up, switch-off and relax in the sunshine. Today's photo come from the brilliantly blue Maronti Beach in Barano, simply stunning. Back tomorrow. Ciao :-)
Buona domenica folks, I hope you're all having a fabulous Sunday and it's been another wonderful day on the island of Ischia. All we've had today is uninterrupted sunshine and temperatures, nice and hot without being overly so. Right now at 6:15pm things are starting to cool down a bit but it's still 27° Celcius (81° Fahrenheit) and won't drop below 21°C (70°F) this evening. Looking ahead at the next seven days the situation is as settled as a hibernating bear as he first settles into his familiar spot for a winter sleep. For today's photo I've chosen one of those spectacular sunsets that Forio is so famous for, this particular shot elegantly adorned by the inimitable Chiesa del Soccorso. Anyway, enjoy your evening and I'll back for our little daily catch-up tomorrow. A domani. Ciao :-)
Afternoon all, I hope you're all enjoying your weekend! We've got another one of those boring weather days again today I'm afraid, nothing to report apart from lots of sunshine and hardly enough wind to warrant a mention. Right now at 5:15pm it's 30° Celcius (86° Fahrenheit) with another warm night in store at a minimum of 20°C (68°F). According to the forecasts we've got another very settled week ahead with the temperature dropping just a touch over the next few days before blazing away again next weekend. For today's photo I thought I'd share this little emblem of wisdom that happened to be lurking on a wall down by Cava dell'Isola Beach in Forio. Would you believe I still haven't been to the beach yet this year? Maybe it's a sign! (well, it is a sign). A domani, ciao :-)
