Good afternoon everybody. We've got a drizzly, overcast afternoon here on the island after what was actually a bright start to the working week this morning. There was some brief respite from yesterday's heavy rain but we look set for a period of unsettled weather right through the week and the temperature right now at 2:15pm is 12° Celcius (54° Fahrenheit). One of the first signs of spring comes when a curious rubbery plant starts to bloom with its bright purple and yellow flowers. Shown in today's photo, the plant known in Italy as "Unghie di Strega" ("Witches' Nails") is known better to some as an Ice Plant, Pig Face or Sour Fig. They're not quite in bloom yet but when they are they create spectacular displays such as this one in Sant'Angelo. A domani :-)
